I can't really help but blog about music and literature. They are probably my two favorite subjects in life. So, here I go on a little tangent again.
The other day I was talking with a friend about The Beatles. It brings me back to my Sophomore year of high-school where my Sociology teacher was obsessed with the band and somehow related The Beatles to his entire class. That and Mean Girls. Anyway...
While I loved him relating big business and industrialism to Mean Girls, it irked me to hear him connecting "the giant," if you will, to The Beatles. Why? I hate The Beatles.
To me, they are the most overrated band in history. Their beats are extremely repetitive and every song sounds the same. There is no creativity in the lyrics either. Dull in every sense of the word... sorry haters, but I'm not alone.
My friend completely agreed with me. Guess it's genetics... so we continued talking, and after complaining about the band for a while, we came to a conclusion.
When you are at a concert with bands like Four Unplugged or various covers... and you've had a little to drink, or not... you'll totally sing along to a Beatles song! Hell yeah! You'll know every damn word, and you'll have a freaking great time doing it. You know why? Because it's a different cadence. That is the musical perspective that the band takes, which can symbolize every aspect of your life.
So what perspective on life do you take? Do you actively solve problems in a creative manor, just like the bands that turn even Beatles songs to tunes that I scream the lyrics to in a tone-deaf manor?
Well I have to remember, finding the tempo is something that everyone will constantly work on. If you work on it hard enough, then you'll find other terrible singers marching to the beat of YOUR drum!
Carpe diem, and KEEP creating!
